Town Rejects Dover Knolls Developers' Plan

Developers have new set of plans.
Dover Knolls Development Co. LLC representatives have said they are prepared to resubmit the plan for the Dover Knolls development off Route 22.
The development, which will be located on the 850 -acre grounds of the former Harlem Valley Psychiatric Facility, is planned to serve as a town center for Dover complete with retail shopping, commercial space, and homes.
This past January, the town, at the suggestion of planning consultant Joel Russell, rejected the original plan put forth by Dover Knolls Development.
"On Jan. 31, the night we presented the plan to the Dover community, the town handed us a letter rejecting our plan," said Kathy Schibanoff, the project's coordinator, this week.
"As a team, we have worked on a compromise, and are ready to present that to the town," Schibanoff said.
